Rusenski Lom Nature Park is located approximately 20 km south from Ruse. The park takes his name from Lom river, which is the last right feeder of Danube river. Nature Park Rusenski Lom flora counts 877 species (23% of Bulgaria`s flora), 30 Balkan and 1 Bulgarian endemic species among them. Endemic plants form 3,4% of all plants in the park. 22 species of fish can be found in the river Rusenski Lom. There are 192 species of birds on the territory of the park. 70 are the mammals species founded in the valley, of totally 100 species on the territory of Bulgaria. Amazing panoramas reveal from each height of Rusenski Lom Nature Park. They entangle the endless curves of the river valley, the forest, the wild beauty of the rock pinnacles as well as the old fortresses and settlements. Among the most remarkable is the bird`s eyes view from the height before the village of Cherven. The town of Cherven was situated here in the times of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (13-14 century), one of the biggest military, administrative and economic centers of the country.
